| :Well I am sure that the vehicle has to conform to the motor vehicle code in which you are operating it in. I guess they could always right it off as "a safety inspection". Not correct. Your vehicle only needs to pass the safety codes required for certification in the state of the owner's title. Interstate travel and commerce laws dictate that other states accept in "good faith" the licensing and legal documentation of your state when you are passing through. This is why you I can present my Texas DL to a Pennsylvania Trooper and he has to accept is as both valid identification and certification of my legal privilege to drive. The same is true of the registration and safety inspection decals on your car. If I take my car with Texas plates and inspection stickers into California, their troopers cannot cite me for violation of their draconian vehicle modification statutes. You must conform to the local operational ordinances, of course, but unless you're transferring your title and registration, you don't have to concern yourself with their equipment codes. BTW - While similar to Nixit (white male, professional employment, almost 29 years old) my view on these guys is a little different. Unlike Nixit, I personally believe that small-town traffic enforcement patrols are the scum of the fucking earth. If anyone reading this is an officer of the Burton, TX, PD then I hereby entreat you to go fuck yourself.
